Cleaning Process

We know your Oriental rug is one of your most precious possessions and East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning treats your rug with the utmost care!

East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning’s techniques are exclusive to the Bay Area and designed to protect the integrity of your oriental rug while restoring its look and feel. Pet dander, insects, and household dust will build up over extended periods of time and settle in between the intricate fibers of a fine oriental rug. Also, the unrefined methods of other cleaning companies can do more damage, to the delicate fibers of an oriental rug, than good.

Our specialized, 7 step Oriental rug cleaning process involves a deep cleanse that doesn’t cut corners to speed up work. East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning’s technique permeates the woven fibers of a rug for a soft yet effective cleaning that pays particular attention to the condition and color of your prized heirlooms.

Our clients frequently tell us about the raving compliments they receive about the color and quality of their Oriental rugs. Below are the seven steps East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning uses to perform our unmatched cleaning process:

1.Pre-Inspection

An East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning professional pre-inspection is much different than our competition! At our plant, one of our experienced technician cleaners inspects your rug thoroughly on both the front and back surfaces. It is the only way to be sure that no defects or blemishes are overlooked. We make sure you know, upfront, the condition of your rug.

2. Dust Removal

If not properly and periodically removed, dust can cause a lot of damage. Ordinary vacuuming with your home vacuum cleaner cannot reach deep enough into the fibers to clean out all of the particulates! An accumulation of particulates can cause damages on your rug and make it appear much older and worn than it really is.

We use compressed air to rid your rug of particulates. We use the exact pressure needed to remove all dust and particulates from your rug without damaging any of the fibers or the colors. Regular rug cleaners don’t use this method because they don’t have the specialized equipment that is necessary to do this job properly.

3. Submersion Bath

Our third step is the bathing process. Professional hand-washing in a submersion bath gives you the assurance that your treasured Oriental rug is getting the treatment it deserves.

We use compressed air underwater on your Oriental rug. Your Oriental rug is cleaned through the gentle agitation of the water jets.

We then go onto another very important step. If you have pets or live in an area of high humidity you know the problems you can have with animal odors, excretions, insect and mite infestation, mold and mildew. They have a very detrimental effect on the beauty and value of your cherished Oriental rugs. No one treatment can eliminate all of those things. So, to make sure your rugs maintain their beauty and value, East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning uses specialized treatments for each specific problem, something few other companies even know about.

4. Rinse

Once your Oriental rug has been thoroughly cleaned, it is then rinsed to remove all of the soils and cleaning agents. It may surprise you to know that East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning’s rinsing process is so thorough that our final rinse water is actually clean enough to drink! Caution! We do not recommend you try this with any other company’s rinse water!

5. Drying

If the drying process is too fast or too slow it can severely damage and devalue your Oriental rug. Your rug is dried gently in our specially designed, atmosphere-controlled drying room.

6. Fringe Work and Detailing

We then detail your rug, and look for any remaining foreign matter. Careful consideration is given to the fibers and dyes. We then rinse and comb out the fringes. This is an important step since most fringes normally have no color, and any blemish will detract from the beauty of your rug.

7. MicroSeal Fabric Protection (Upon Request)
When the wool fibre is sheered from the animal, the natural protection is no longer produced, subjecting it to faster deterioration (wear) and permanent staining. MicroSeal was specifically and expressly designed in England many years ago to permanently replenish the natural protective agent that a sheep produces for its own coat. In addition to wear and stain protection, MicroSeal provides substantial sun fade resistance for the wool. Just as exciting, silk blend rugs can now be protected from sun degradation.
