Rug Cleaning

Oriental rugs are a beautiful way to add color, texture, and warmth to your home. However, an oriental rug is a unique piece of art that requires special care and protection to maintain the value of your investment. At East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning, we offer comprehensive rug cleaning and rug repair in San Francisco. Our carpet cleaning professionals have the knowledge, experience, and tools to ensure your rug is treated with the utmost care so it will retain its beauty for generations to come.

How Professional Cleaning Protects Your Oriental Rug

Oriental rugs are not made using the same techniques as other area rugs or home carpeting. Thus, the same cleaning solutions you may use for other flooring options are not the best method to protect your oriental rug. Specialized oriental carpet cleaning services are the best way to protect and preserve your oriental rug to maintain its look and longevity.

Dirt and other grit are ground into the fibers of your oriental rug every time you walk on it. Over time, dirt and grit will discolor the rug and can even cut or chafe the fibers, detracting from their appearance and texture. Professional washing is the only way to remove dirt, grit, and other particles safely and completely from the rug to prevent staining and wear.

Oriental rugs require specialized stain removal treatments to address spills, mud, and other stains. Trying to remove these stains yourself using the wrong products or techniques could seriously damage your carpet and affect its durability.

Professional rug cleaning takes into account both the washing and drying process. Carpets must be dried thoroughly and properly to prevent mold and mildew from causing deterioration that can spread quickly and destroy your precious rug.

Oriental Rug Cleaning Tips

Your professional carpet cleaners will help you make the right choices to keep your oriental rug in excellent shape, regardless of its age. If you still have questions about carpet cleaning or would like to discuss your rugs, please call East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning at (925) 933-8874, (510) 704-3961 or (415) 877-4272.

Vacuuming can reduce the amount of dirt and grit that affects your carpet. Always vacuum your oriental rug on a low setting and turn off the beater brush; make sure to avoid the fringe with your vacuum.

Reducing the amount of dirt and wear your carpet encounters can protect it. Remove your shoes when entering your home and place mats inside and outside all exterior doors.

Address spills immediately, rather than allowing them to soak into your carpet. Carpet stain removal is easiest within one to two days of a spill, ensuring your carpet is returned looking like new.

Our Cleaning Process

Exclusive Seven-Step Process.

East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning, we know your Oriental rug is one of your most precious possessions and treat your rug with the utmost care! Our techniques are exclusive to the Bay Area and designed to protect the integrity of your oriental rug while restoring its look and feel. The unrefined methods of other cleaning companies can do more damage, to the delicate fibers of an oriental rug, than good.

The following materials can build up over extended period of time and settle in the intricate fibers of rugs:

  • Pet dander
  • Insects
  • Household dust
  • Crumbs

Our specialized, seven-step oriental rug cleaning process involves a deep cleanse that doesn’t cut corners to speed up work. The techniques we use permeate the woven fibers of a rug for a soft yet effective cleaning that pays particular attention to the condition and color of your prized heirlooms. Our clients frequently tell us about the raving compliments they receive about the color and quality of their oriental rugs.

Rug Repair & Restoration

Even with meticulous care, time and wear can take their toll on your oriental rug, diminishing its value and appearance. If you have an area rug in need of repair, East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning can help. Our professionals have extensive experience with rug repair and rug restoration near San Francisco; we will work to address damage, fading, and more so you can enjoy the beauty and quality of your carpets once more.

Common Signs You Need Rug Repair

One of the simplest ways to maintain the value of your oriental rug is to inspect it carefully every few months. Looking for a few key signs that your rug could benefit from repair or restoration will help you take action before any damage can grow more extensive. Some of the most common signs that your rug needs the attention of a professional include

  • uneven wear in any area of the carpet; this can be avoided by rotating or relocating your carpets regularly.
  • holes or pits in the pile of the rug, which can indicate moth or other pest activity that needs immediate attention.
  • fringe that appears to be growing longer or more ragged; this can occur as stitches or knots begin to unravel along the edges of your rug, which are particularly susceptible to damage.
  • frayed edges, which can weaken your rug and put it at risk for further problems, especially if the rug continues to see regular use.

The Value of Rug Restoration

Some people worry that rug restoration changes the integrity of the original carpet, thus affecting its value. However, the truth is that high-quality rug restoration will always add to the value and longevity of your carpet. Skilled rug repair and restoration will leave absolutely no traces behind, instead returning your carpet to its beautiful and like-new condition. Rug restoration will also strengthen a weak carpet and address issues such as fading and insect damage, which will only work to destroy the overall integrity of the carpet over time. Neglecting to make repairs to your carpet will only raise its risk of deterioration over time, rather than allowing you to enjoy its beauty and pass it along as a family heirloom in the future.

Maintaining your oriental rug is just like maintaining your home or your vehicle, helping you to enjoy this investment today while extending its longevity to get the most from your purchase. Professional carpet cleaning and rug restoration are an important part of oriental rug care—you can reach East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning by calling (925) 933-8874, (510) 704-3961 or (415) 877-4272 for professional advice on rug repair, rug restoration, and professional carpet cleaning in San Francisco.

Oriental Rug Appraisals

Determine How Much Your Rug is Worth

Appraisals are an auxiliary service that we offer our customers, in addition to providing East Bay oriental rug cleaning. Many oriental and area rug owners know their rugs are valuable. Often, owners wonder if their rugs have depreciated, given the conditions of use, in value. Foot traffic and furniture can cause small damages that over time, typically go unnoticed. These are a few of the factors and items we take in to account when appraising an area rug.

Once our appraisal is completed, you will receive documentation that states the following details about your rug:

  • Origin
  • Fabric type
  • Design
  • Value
  • Damages (if any)

After we have discussed these factors, we would also recommend any repairs, if needed, to help your rug hold its value. To request more information about our appraisal process, please contact us (925) 933-8874, (510) 704-3961 or (415) 877-4272.

steps for the East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning

An East Bay Oriental Rug Cleaning professional pre-inspection is much different than our competition! At our plant, one of our experienced cleaners inspects your rug thoroughly on both the front and back surfaces. This is the only way to be sure that no defects or blemishes are overlooked. We make sure that you know, upfront, what condition your rug is in.

Dust Removal

If not properly and periodically removed, dust can cause a lot of damage. Ordinary vacuuming with your home vacuum cleaner cannot reach deep enough into the fibers to clean out all of the particulates! An accumulation of particulates can cause damages on your rug and make it appear much older and worn than it really is.

We use compressed air to rid your rug of particulates. Our team uses the exact pressure needed to remove all dust and particulates from your rug without damaging any of the fibers or the colors. Regular rug cleaners don’t use this method because they don’t have the specialized equipment that is necessary to do this job properly.

Submersion Bath

Our third step is the bathing process. Professional hand-washing in a submersion bath gives you the assurance that your treasured Oriental rug is getting the treatment it deserves.

We use compressed air underwater on your oriental rug. Your rug is cleaned through the gentle agitation of the water jets.

We then go onto another very important step. If you have pets or live in an area of high humidity you know the problems you can have with animal odors, excretions, insect and mite infestation, mold and mildew. They have a very detrimental effect on the beauty and value of your cherished oriental rugs. No single treatment can eliminate all of those things. So, to make sure your rugs maintain their beauty and value, we use specialized treatments for each specific problem, something few other companies even know about.

Once your oriental rug has been thoroughly cleaned, it is then rinsed to remove all of the soils and cleaning agents. It may surprise you to know that our rinsing process is so thorough that our final rinse water is actually clean enough to drink! Caution! We do not recommend you try this with any other company’s rinse water!

If the drying process is too fast or too slow it can severely damage and devalue your Oriental rug. Your rug is dried gently in our specially designed, atmosphere-controlled drying room.

Fringe Work and Detailing

We then detail your rug, and look for any remaining foreign matter. Careful consideration is given to the fibers and dyes. We then rinse and comb out the fringes. This is an important step since most fringes normally have no color, and any blemish will detract from the beauty of your rug.

MicroSeal Fabric Protection (Upon Request)

When the wool fiber is sheered from the animal, the natural protection is no longer produced, subjecting it to faster deterioration (wear), and permanent staining. MicroSeal was specifically and expressly designed in England many years ago to permanently replenish the natural protective agent that a sheep produces for its own coat. In addition to wear and stain protection, MicroSeal provides substantial sun fade resistance for the wool. Just as exciting, silk blend rugs can now be protected from sun degradation.
